Kalvin Robinson comes from a multi-centurion—generational American lineage dated as far back as 1792, inhabiting the United States. Kalvin was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, and primarily lived with his single mother and two older half-sisters. Through his father, Kalvin has two older half-brothers and a stepmother who assisted in raising Kalvin during his youth and adolescence. 

Kalvin Robinson graduated from Vestavia Hills High School in 2013 with honors. During his high school tenure, Kalvin had an extensive extracurricular schedule that included Football, Track, Student-Government, Public Forum Debate, School News, and Men’s Choir. In high school, Kalvin was a highly sought-after three-star student-athlete. He was ranked 27th top athlete in the Alabama High School Football Class of 2013, a third-best defensive end in the state, and an Over The Mountain All-Star candidate. 

Early Life

Education and early career

Kalvin Robinson graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2017 with a Bachelors in Economics. In 2013, Kalvin was recruited and signed by then-assistant coach Jeff Brohm to play D1 college football at Western Kentucky under Head Coach Bobby Petrino. Kalvin, the three-star athlete, had a successful career with playing activities as a true freshman for all four years. He is a recipient of two Conference USA conference championships (2015, 2016) and three-time bowl champion (inaugural Popeyes Bahamas Bowl, 2015 Miami Beach Bowl, 2016 Boca Raton Bowl). 

Mr. Kalvin Robinson started his career in Washington, D.C. The apex of his D.C. career was serving the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Financial Services Chair Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) during her inaugural term as chair of the committee for the 116th Congress. This job was transformational for Kalvin as it served as a base for his understanding of financial services, the benefits of FinTech for marginalized communities, and an understanding of capital markets. Before joining the U.S. Congress, Kalvin was a Williams and Jensen PLLC legislative analyst intern. His coverage was financial services, immigration, consumer privacy, and healthcare. Prior to this role, Kalvin Robinson’s first job in D.C. and out of college was as an associate loan officer for a top homebuilder company that offered mortgage lending services. Mr.Robinson placed over 40 Americans in the home per quarter during his tenure. He received awards for his production serving the American people.

Between 2019 and 2021, Kalvin Robinson was an Investment Banking Analyst covering tech-enabled services at TD Cowen Investment Bank, formerly known as Cowen Investment Bank. His covered industry included, but is not limited to, Payments, FinTech, and Management Software solutions. During his time on Wall Street, Mr. Kalvin Robinson assisted in the brokerage of multiple M&A deals valued over $2.7 billion. 

Entrepreneurship prior to K-Co

Kalvin Robinson founded Athlete-Prep in 2018. Athlete-Prep’s focus is improving professional skills and financial literacy for student-athletes. In 2021, he piloted a financial literacy curriculum for Cardinal Hayes High School, an all-boys Catholic high school in The Bronx, NY. He used his non-profit to build community through community service and a mutual interest in student-athlete support in Washington D.C. and New York City.
